Ferric Nanopowder (Fe)
Material consists for 20-30% of hexane, and the rest is ferric powder. The powder consists of metal ferric (not less than 99,8% of mass) and fiber-entrapped gases – CH4, CO2, Ar, N2. Active metal content decrease to 90-92% under hexane removal and with air contact.
Physical and chemical characteristics
Exterior view and colour: pasty mass, from dark grey to black colour. Average size of particles in the powder is 50-110 nm. Particles have spherical shape and form agglomerates. Dry powder bulk density is about 3,7 g/sm 3. Specific surface area measured by BET is 7,7 m2/g. Temperature of hypergolicity of suspension steams at the air is 338 C. Boiling temperature is 69 C. Flash point is about 22 C. Hexane is not imbibed by water. Ferric powder may self-ignite at the air after hexane extracting (evacuation, for instance).
X-ray phase analysis shows that the material constantly consist from crystalline ferric. After hexane evacuation and air contact ferric powder ignite with the help of low-thermal-value source (spirit lamp) in 0,5 sec. Linear velocity of burning front is 2 mm/sec, period of burning front is 18,0 – 18,5 mm.
The powder can be used in producing drugs, plant cultivation, industrial west recycling, producing dry film lubrications.
